How do I delete "People" from my Android phone?

I Have a new HTC Thunderbolt from Verizon. When I got it, I had to either create or use an existing gmail account to "sync" it with my phone. My gmail must have been set to add all inbound or outbound addresses to my contacts lists in the "other" category. Even if all it had was an email address. After syncing it with my account, my phone grabbed my contacts list and added like 100 or more entries I want to remove.. When I long press the entry, it just asks me do I want to send a Vcard, or Block it.. Those are the only 2 options. The contacts I added all give me 6 or more options including delete... How do I get rid of the entries I don't want??
